Privacy
How Tropolis collects, uses and protects your personal information. Effective [Effective date].
Who we are
[Legal entity name], trading as Tropolis, of [Registered address], Tripoli, Lebanon, is responsible for the personal information collected through www.tropolis.blog (the "Site"). You can contact us about privacy at info@tropolis.blog.
What we collect
We collect only what we need, and mostly what you choose to give us:
- Demo submissions: your name, artist or stage name, email address, optional location, a link to your music, an optional genre and any message you write.
- Contact messages and studio booking requests: your name, email address, the topic, any music link, the date or timeframe you want, details of the project and your message.
- Merch drop alerts: your email address.
- Technical data: like most websites, our hosting provider may process your IP address, browser and device type, the pages requested and timestamps in server logs.
We do not ask for payment details on the Site today. When the merch store opens, payments will be handled by a payment provider and this policy will be updated.
How we use it
We use personal information to:
- reply to your messages and booking requests;
- listen to and evaluate demos, and get back to you where we want to take them further;
- send the drop alerts you asked for;
- keep the Site secure and working;
- meet our legal obligations.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for automated decision-making.
Our legal basis
Where the law requires a legal basis, we rely on your consent (for example for drop alerts and demo submissions), on steps needed to answer your request or arrange a booking, on our legitimate interest in running and securing the Site and our label, and on compliance with legal obligations.
Who we share it with
We share personal information only with people who help us run the Site and respond to you, under appropriate safeguards: our website host ([Hosting provider]), our form and email providers ([Form and email provider]), and the Tropolis team and artists involved in reviewing your submission. We may also disclose information if the law requires it or to protect our rights.
Embedded and third-party services
The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so your browser sends your IP address to Google when a page loads. Playing a release on the Site loads a YouTube player, and YouTube (Google) may set cookies and collect data under its own policy. Links to Spotify, Apple Music, Anghami, Deezer, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X, Snapchat and other services are governed by their own privacy policies.
Cookies
At the time of writing the Site does not set advertising or analytics cookies. The third-party services above may set their own cookies when you use them. If we add analytics or other cookies we will update this policy and ask for consent where required.
International transfers
Our providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where we can, we choose providers that protect your information to a similar standard.
How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected: demo submissions and messages for [retention period, for example 24 months] unless we are in touch about a project, drop-alert emails until you unsubscribe, and records we must keep by law for as long as the law requires. We then delete or anonymise them.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, restrict or object to its use, withdraw your consent at any time, and receive a copy of it. To use these rights, email info@tropolis.blog. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. No website or transmission is completely secure, so please do not send sensitive information through the Site.
Children
The Site is not directed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always on this page, with its effective date at the top.
